SATURDAY August 29th 2026
9:00 am - 10:00 am - 1 spot left
10:15 am - 11:15 am - 2 spots left
11:30 am - 12:30 pm - 1 spots left

These time slots are run as practice sessions/lessons for handlers who have introduced their dog to rats and have a bit of experience in the sport.  I will be there to answer questions, go over BHA rules, ensure proper rat handling and ring procedures are followed and to help with any training issues - these are not "lessons", moreso guided practice to help you and your dog achieve your Barn Hunt goals!

There will be 5 dogs per 1 hour time block and each dog will get 2 runs.  I have consistently found not just with my own dogs but in teaching over several years that 3 runs is too much.  More is NOT better.  I am allowing a 15 minute grace period between the 1 hour time blocks as if a dog is struggling we ALWAYS leave on a good note and this will allow extra time if needed.

Experience handlers/competitors are welcome to join these sessions and use them like a Rat N Go.  Help and guidance is given to novice handlers or anyone that wants an extra set of eyes and help from me.

Within a specified time slot you will be given 2 separate runs to practice whatever skills you want to work on - it is your time to practice whatever you wish:

This 3 hour intense, fun, fast paced skills workshop separates skills out so that you can fine tune and improve specific aspects crucial to barn hunt success such as tunnels, scent discrimination, a solid, clear indication, hard hides and distraction proofing.   Each team  will rotate through 6 separate skills in a fun, fast-paced environment! You will be paired with a partner & your dog gets regular resting periods between skills where they *MUST BE CRATED*

*Note - Your dog must be at least the NOVICE level for the Brain Buster circuit training fun!

Future sessions will build on these skills as dogs master the fundamentals.  No matter the level of the dog – these skills are necessary for consistent and reliable performances and will build confidence and drive into your dog’s performance 😊

Rat N Go's

Rat N Go - Practice "Trial"

Location:   Unleashed K9
1400 County Road 46  Ramara, ON
(Indoor Heated Training Hall)

Rat N Go's are for people preparing for trials - your dog must be on rats and you should have read the BHA rules in order to get the most out of your practice time.  These are NOT trials - they are run similar to a trial in terms of you can wait in a blind if you wish, there is a "mock" judge in the ring, you can choose to have your run timed etc.   However, you may also make it informal - you can reward in the ring, can ask to know where the rats are, or can ask to practice specific skills during your time in the ring.

Each person gets approximately 5 minutes in the ring per "run".  Most people book 2 - 3 runs per dog (which can be at different levels).  It may not seem like a lot of practice but trust me - your dog will be tired after 3 runs so 3 runs is the maximum per dog.
