Rat N Go's

Rat N Go - Practice "Trial"
Rat N Go's are for people preparing for trials - your dog must be on rats and you should have read the BHA rules in order to get the most out of your practice time. These are NOT trials - they are run similar to a trial in terms of you can wait in a blind if you wish, there is a "mock" judge in the ring, you can choose to have your run timed etc. However, you may also make it informal - you can reward in the ring, can ask to know where the rats are, or can ask to practice specific skills during your time in the ring.

Each person gets approximately 5 minutes in the ring per "run". Most people book 2 - 3 runs per dog (which can be at different levels). It may not seem like a lot of practice but trust me - your dog will be tired after 3 runs so 3 runs is the maximum per dog.

$10 per run/per dog - Max 3 runs per dog per Rat N Go

beginnings of scent discrimination

climbing

going through a tunnel

BARN HUNT Practice Drop-in Sessions

New Handlers - INSTINCT / NOVICE / OPEN
(Must have completed a seminar, course or have experience in barn hunt already)
These time slots are run as practice sessions for handlers who have introduced their dog to rats and have a bit of experience in the sport. I will be there to answer questions, go over BHA rules, ensure proper rat handling and ring procedures are followed and to help with any training issues but these are not "lessons", more so guided practice to help you and your dog achieve your Barn Hunt goals!

Within a specified time slot you will be given 3 separate time blocks to practice whatever skills you want to work on - it is your time to practice whatever you wish:

-
building drive for the live tube
-
indicating the live tube
-
scent discrimination
-
climbing
-
going through a tunnel
-
running a full course & being timed

*Note that several people will be grouped together in a block of time - this is a sport that requires participation / volunteering in order to run so you will need to be present for the whole 1 hour block of time, not just when running your own dog. You learn A LOT from watching others and their dogs and we are all here to support each other :)
